Trident Maples thick trunk, lovely colorful leaves and a sturdy disposition, make the this bonsai tree one of the most sought-after bonsai’s by enthusiasts and collectors. This is a rapid-growing tree that is popular in city parks and gardens. It is hardy and can withstand tough conditions like dry soil, air pollution, and heavy pruning.
Trident maple is a small- to medium-sized, deciduous tree from Asia with a rounded, branching form. The leaves have three forward-facing lobes resembling a trident; triangular, three-lobed leaves (to 3.5” long) are glossy green above and pale green beneath.
This tree tends to grow as a multi-stemmed, low-branching specimen, but it can be pruned to a single stem. The exfoliating bark reveals an orange-brown inner bark, which adds interest. The fall color can be variable, sometimes yellows but usually reds and oranges.
This species has a strong root growth, is uncomplicated when repotting and tolerates pruning very well. Trident maple bonsai do not have excessive water requirements. Wintering is also easy. All in all, a good bonsai for beginners.Available for local pick-up (contact for personal delivery option).
