Dawn Redwoods or Chinese Redwoods and have existed on earth for millions of years. It is a living fossil that was thought to be extinct. In 1941, the first living trees were rediscovered in China.
These redwoods can live up to 400 years. Fast growing, durable, and visually appealing, Dawn Redwoods are one of the most prized varieties of bonsai trees. An anomaly in the family, these deciduous trees provide a delightful display of changing colors at the end of each growing season, and shed their lacy needles during the colder months.
Dawn Redwoods enjoy dappled sunlight and warm summer days. They require four to six hour of sunlight a day but need semi-shade during the hottest months. They thrive in areas with high humidity and moderate warmth.
Dawn Redwood’s requires serious protection from extreme cold and frost during their formant season.
