A TRUE GEM!
Chinese Elm – Root Over Rock. Not many trees were started in the United States before the 1970s. Yutaka Matsuda or ‘Uncle Taka’ to Hiroshi Matsuda was one of the seven founding members of the Sierra Bonsai Club of Placer County and started this tree in 1957. Hiroshi inherited the tree 35 years ago and has been refining the tree ever since. This tree has been in training for 65 years. Another couple of decades and the original rock will be completely engulfed. A once in a lifetime achievement.
Chinese Elms are indigenous to China and south-east Asia. In its native environment, it can reach heights of 80 feet (25 meters). It develops a fine branch ramification with small leaves, which makes it a very suitable Bonsai plant.
A must-have for any collector.
Available for local pick-up (contact for personal delivery option).
